One Flower Wednesday and other finishes

I didn’t think I would be able to post anything today for One Flower Wednesday as I didn’t have any flowers completed, until…..I went to the hair salon today.  As I was waiting for the magic to happen in my hair I managed to get a flower together. DSC_9129 Since I had the camera out and the blog open I thought I would show you a few other finishes that have happened lately.  DSC_9130 DSC_9134 These  are table runners that I have made as a request.  She wanted one whimsical runner and one DSC_9132traditional runner.  I also have to make her a Easter runner too! All gifts for her MIL!

This rag quilt (below) is ever so special.  Another friend asked me to make her daughter, 11yr, a rag quilt using her receiving blankets.  Let me tell you I was a little nervous to cut these precious keepsakes, but she reassured me it was ok.  She even had some of her own, but I didn’t cut these as they were just to fragile. I added the yellow and the plaid flannel to bring in some colour.  It isn’t huge, just big enough to cuddle and hug!

These two placemats were made for “Meals on Wheels” charity. Our guild is making them in time to be handed out at Christmas. Thus one side is Christmas and they other for everyday.  DSC_9137

working like a mad man (woman)

Yep that is right I am on a cleaning mission.  This house is awful. Neglected over the summer with everyone home, coming and going, doors and windows open, dust blowing in. Our weather is awful, raining, grey and cold..good day for cleaning because tomorrow I am going on a field trip.
I am going to Katherine's house, fellow blogger of Sew Me Something Good. She won my giveaway this summer. Lucky for us we are in the same city and not too far from each other.  I am going to deliver her winnings and we are going to sit and sew awhile.
I am so looking forward to it.

Back to cleaning floors and bathrooms! (yuck my knees are killing me)

Flower power and more

I am a little behind today due to taking the van in for servicing, stopping in at work (mistake) and computer issues with Blogger .

I decided to show you all the flowers that have bloomed in my garden this summer for One Flower Wednesday hosted by Karen at Journey of a Quilter  Check out the many other growing gardens.
my flower garden is growing

I have wanted to show off the above finish for a while, but had to wait until my mother recieved it in the mail this week. I made here a little table topper and 8 serviettes for her bridge parties!  She has been playing bridge with some of the ladies for almost 40 years

Next are a few finishes from over the summer complete with bindings

I hope whereever you are that the sun is shining and it is not miserable like it is here, rainy, cloudy and only 8*C. yuck we have had the worst summer.

If you didn't see on my previous post what I received from my dear friend you MUST go check it out.  I know you all will be jealous!!

What are you working on???

You won't believe what I got....

My dear friend Ria is so generous and caring.  She has been working on a secret project for me for about 9 months now (not a baby). She was so excited to give this project to me and I had no clue what it could be.  Even my daughters knew what it was and kept the secret from me!
Well on Aug 22 we headed over to a long arm quilter to pick up my project. She was like a kid going to the circus. couldn't sit still.
I was certainly amazed and thrilled when she gave me this secret project.
fabulous ear rings
Can you belive she made this for me?  Isn't she fabulous?  Ria does all hand applique too. Her attention to detail is amazing. rhinestones on the glasses.    I still can't believe she made this for me. I am so lucky to have her as a friend.
