Off to school

My friend's son went off to university last year in Victoria. BC.  When unpacking his stuff he commented to his mom, "Where is my homemade quilt? All my friends got one!" Well that sure made my friend feel quilty.  So this year she commissioned me to make him a quilt.  I gave her a choice of patterns, but she wanted a rag quilt (whew, much quicker to make).  We went to the LQS to pick out the flannel before their 50% off sale.  Since her son is 6''2" I had to make it a bit longer and wider then I normally do.

I love making rag quilts they are so quick, easy and fun! (although a little messy)

What are you working on these days?

p.s. only 2 more followers needed to get my giveaway underway!
p.s.s. daughter #1 is off to dance camp for a week :(

  1. Well, right now, I'm not working on anything - been away from home for a week, but anxious to get back to the four on the go. Nice rag quilt, and I love all the other projects you've been working on, particularly the summer placemats. I'm headed over to my blog right now to advertise your upcoming give-away - not sure if it'll help, but....

  4. The rag quilt turned out great - I love it! I´m working on my cats scrappy flannel quilt. The first time I try to do some free motion quilting on something big..... oh boy seam ripper became my best friend and I´m ready to give up.

  5. That's a large rag quilt. I'm working on a lot of projects, quilting, cross-stitching, crochet. I have to finish a few projects soon.

  6. Boys are funny. They like to snuggle under a warm quilt too. Great guy colors and I love flannel.

  7. Lee, I am trying to get all the quilts that I have made this past spring quilted before school goes back in- got one done yesterday- Hopefully I will get the other 4 quilted in the next couple of weeks. It gets harder once I return to the classroom.
Your rag quilt is lovely- not something that I have ever made- I am sure your friend's son will love it.
    Regards,
