Happy Easter

Happy Easter!

My first attempt at hand applique and I think next time I will continue with the machine. I really didn't enjoy going through 2 layers of heat and bond and 3 layers of fabric...ouch! I did enjoy having something to do that I could easily pick up and do just a few stitches here and there. Sooo today I picked up a few little embroidery projects to work on. I will have some extra time on my hands while waiting for my girls during dance competitions coming up. Plus they are easier to carry around then a big quilt.

I hope you all have a lovely Easter weelend and find some time to spend with family and friends.(and maybe a little sewing too!) We will be sharing Easter Sunday with mulitple families as we are invited to a brunch and a dinner!

  1. I've never done hand applique with Fusible stuff under it. I usually use freezer paper and then cut it out from the back. It's an extra step, but well worth it IMHO

  2. I love your appliqued eggs!

I never use fusible stuff under hand appliques. I think it’s easier to cut the fabric form you want to applique with a seam allowance between 1/4 and 1/8 inch, then fold the seam allowance to the back and baste the fabric shape, pin and baste it into place and handapplique it.

    Happy Easter Lee!!!!

  3. Happy Easter to you Lee! I too am a Dutch Girl, but have never lived there. I have cousins over there and in fact my one cousin and her hubby are some the last original Delft artists that still paint by hand. They work in the Delft's Pauw (sp?) I have a few pieces of their original art and treasure them dearly!

  4. I love your easter table runner, so bright and colorful! I do my hand applique the same way as nicolette does and never use fusible stuff.
    Happy Easter, Lee!
