Another of Genevieve's

Since the link didn't work from last week I am resending this entry. This week for Vintage Thingie Thursday another one of my great grandmother's quilts.
As promised last week, I would post another picture of my Great Grandmother's quilts. I sure wish could have met her and learned from her. Her sewing skills were amazing. Although I am told that she wasn't a very good cook and was extremely stingy! This quilt I can remember being on my bed as kid. The prints are now called "retro prints" ! I just laugh at that since I have this quilt when it was "in" fabric. I believe this is called an "Apple core" pattern. The edges are all scalloped with a beige binding. Lily always manages to get in on the pictures!!!

It doesn't look retro at all, it looks so up to date.

  3. I like the "retro prints." I have a cheap "made in China" quilt that I use in summer. Very minimal quilting on it, but the "retro print" fabrics look nice.

  16. Gorgeous quilt--how specially fortunate you are to have it and have the memories of using it too. Block designs are known by many names; I know this pattern as double axe head. Thanks for featuring it again.

  17. Very pretty quilt! I'm lucky to have 2 of my Grandma's quilts that she made, and they are some of my most prized possessions. Unfortunately the quilting gene went to my sister and not me!
