In between soccer games and dance classes this evening I quickly took some photos of my grandmother's pink glass set for Vintage Thingie Thursday. I always admired this pink glass dessert set in my grandmother's house for as long I can remember. I was fortunate enough to receive it after she passed in 1997. There are no marks on the glass. I consider it a dessert set because there are mostly sundae/parfait glasses and bowls to the set, one covered dish and 8 plates. I have used it once and awhile over the years, but the glass is so thin and delicate I have to be extra careful washing them. I took the pictures so quickly I didn't have time to wash them, hope you can't see too much dust!!! Next week I hope to combine two of my favourite hobbies, antiques and quilting....hint they were made by someone in my family!
Have a great week.
Your pink glass is beautiful, and I would be so afraid to use it since it is so special. I have seen glass like this before and you are right...it is so thin and fragile.
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait for next week....love the hint. Have a great week!
Depression glass and getting more valuable and collectable all the time.
ReplyDeletePINK! How divine! I admire it so!
ReplyDeleteLovely pink depression collection. Nice heirloom too. Thanks for sharing, Ruby
ReplyDeleteThere is something about depression glass that is so lovely...maybe the fragile quality of it!
ReplyDeleteHi Lee, the glass is depression glass and beautiful. Lucky you to have such pretty treasures from your grandmother.
ReplyDeleteHugs...Jeanne
Lovely pink dishes! Next week sounds intresting too
ReplyDeleteHow pretty... I love pink glass! :)
ReplyDeleteI love pink depression glass I always wonder what they used it for during that grand period in history
ReplyDeleteI have a few pieces of pink depression glass--none smooth--mostly hobnail. It was the thing to collect back in the 1980's until the price went up. I like the clear glass style.
ReplyDeleteI have some similar pieces from my great-aunt that never get used because they are so thin they make guests nervous. And the wine glasses really only hold a sip, even though they are shaped for wine, they should really be apertif. (sp?)I love the shape of the drinking glasses.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to your quilt next week!
I love pink! Your pink glass is beautiful!
