Dilemma

I started quilting this quilt today, finally.

I decided to stitch in the ditch around each block and the inner border

Then I wanted to free motion quilt on all the white blocks.  I am using a white thread on top and a pinkish one on the back. (oops forgot to show the back, but it is pink and red). Trouble is the pinkish thread is shows through on the white.  DSCN8315DSCN8314

Do I leave it like this?

Do I change to white thread on the back, which has no white in the fabric?

Do I  not FM the blocks?

What to do?  Help me out please! I would love to hear your comments and advice on this dilemma.

Thanks

  1. Very sweet quilt!

Maybe you can try to change the tension of the htread and try out on some test pieces if that helps, because the backthread should not be showing on the front. Good luck!

  2. Love the quilt. Maybe what Nicolette wrote will help. loosen up the tension a bit.

  3. Well, I agree the bobbin thread should not be showing, and that must be tension - having said that if you adjust the tension, then the other blocks won't look the same (and do you really want to pick that out?) Because the bobbin thread is pink, and the colors of the quilt top are pink/red, I'm not so sure that it's such a bad thing. But then - your decision may be based on whether this is for you, or for somebody else. If it's for you - what can you live with? If it's for somebody else - well, the saying is galloping horses won't notice - but is that somebody else a galloping horse? It is a dilemma - will be looking forward to hearing how you solve it!

  4. What a pretty quilt!
Hmmm... that is frustrating. My first suggestion is the same as Nicolette's. Also wondered if the threads you're using are the same weights ( I sometimes find that using threads from different manufacturers won't play nice when mixed) or if changing your needle would help. Hope you get the trouble figured out.

  5. I'm not a quilter, and I enjoyed reading all the other suggestions you received but if it were up to me, I would change the thread on the back to white, it's the back, who cares?
